About RadioInternet.ca
RadioInternet.ca: a Québec web radio streaming around the clock and 50 free tools to create your music. Our story, our model, the people behind it.
The vision: all of radio, in one place
RadioInternet.ca is an all-in-one web radio ecosystem, in French first, built for creators here at home. The starting idea fits in one sentence: creating, producing, streaming and learning should all happen in the same place — without paying for five different subscriptions, and without installing a single piece of software.
Here, you start from a simple web address and you build your material: a song you drop off, a link you analyze, a track you polish in the studio, a video you generate. Then you hear the result on a real radio that plays around the clock, day and night. And in between, you learn: training courses, articles, and tips from people who make music with today’s tools, artificial intelligence included.
And all of it is free. Not “free to start”: free for real, for everyone, with no time limit. That has been the site’s bet from day one — give so much that people get hooked, ask for more, and stay.
The story of the domain: a name that left, and came back
The name RadioInternet.ca was born in 2005, in Shawinigan, during the wild years of Planète Caribou — a web radio that ran twenty-four hours a day from a studio set up on the second floor of the Globe Steakhouse, on Rue de la Pointe. On March 2, 2005, the name RadioInternet.ca was registered as a business name in Québec. The project lived on, the studio closed, the years went by: the company behind the name was struck off the register in 2017, the domain was released, and by 2019 radiointernet.ca was even pointing somewhere else, to another project.
The story could have ended there. It starts again on February 12, 2024, when Lawrence Morel renewed the domain at GoDaddy: twenty years after its birth, radiointernet.ca came back to its creator. The site you’re visiting today was born from that return — rebuilt from the ground up, tool by tool, page by page.
The motto behind all of it is Lawrence’s own:
“Dare to go where no one will go. Me, I start where everyone else stops.”
What you’ll find here
- The non-stop radio — Listen live: the site’s own station plays day and night, with music from creators here and beyond. A player stays pinned to the bottom of every page: you browse, the music keeps playing.
- 50 free tools — All the tools: fifty home-built apps that run right in your browser — link analysis, a scratch lab, games, contests, content creators and much more. Zero installation.
- The Audio Studio — Open the Audio Studio: a full production console in your browser — voice, effects, mixing, exports — to prepare your tracks like in a real studio.
- The AI Video Studio — Open the AI Video Studio: describe a scene, attach an image if you like, and the site generates your video clip. Text-to-video and image-to-video, for real.
- Training — See the courses: Formation Suno Québec and the other learning paths, step by step, to learn how to create with AI.
- Drop your music — Submit your song: send in your track; a human reviews it, then it joins the catalogue and can end up showcased and on the radio.
- Contests and community — The contests: creation contests, listener slots, polls, badges — and the blog that tells the whole story, article after article.
- The 150 characters — Meet the characters: a complete universe of 150 characters created for the site, with their stories and worlds — and an assistant that lets you build your own.
The model, frankly: everything is free
No catch, no hidden plan. On RadioInternet.ca, everything is free for everyone, with no limit, until further notice: the tools, the Audio Studio, the AI Video Studio, the courses, the contests, the listening. Signing up asks for a username and a password — that’s it.
So how does it pay for itself? Advertising. The site is funded by Google AdSense ads: the more people come, listen and stay, the more the site can keep giving everything away. It’s written in black and white on the pricing page: the price is zero — with one exception.
The one paid exception: the Super Button, $599. It’s the “done for you” service: instead of building your radio step by step, we launch it for you in one go, turnkey. The free step-by-step path stays open to everyone, at all times — the Super Button buys the shortcut, not the access. Discover the Super Button
The people behind the mic
Lawrence Morel — founder. More than thirty years of radio: he started in 1993, learned the trade on FM here at home — Longueuil, Edmundston, Lévis —, built web radios, wrote hundreds of articles and composed hundreds of songs. Not an office man: a hands-on man, the kind who does the voices, the imaging, the console — and who, at CJMD in Lévis, even climbed up on the roof to install the antenna. RadioInternet.ca is his project, carried at arm’s length since 2005. His full page
Lee Ann Morel — the English side, in Toronto. Lawrence’s sister and his co-host: a DJ who blogs and mixes on the radio, she runs the English side of RadioInternet.ca from Toronto.
Caya — the Montréal side. A rapper from Longueuil and founder of the Longzone collective: he holds the site’s Montréal side and writes the rap and artificial-intelligence columns. His page
Artistes d’ici (“Artists from here”) — the site’s artist grouping: Lawrence, Caya, Rick (Rick L’Entourage, rapper and producer from Lévis), Martin Show and Caroline, live creators who each have their own page and their own audience.
